1st July 2020

If you’re keen to know more about what Microsoft Dynamics can do, read our latest post from our Technical Architect, Anil Antony, about How to Create a PDF in Dynamics 365.  For more information contact us on or call 0113 415 1615.

Microsoft introduced PDF generation capability for sales records and this feature is available as part of the 2020 Wave 1 release.  The capability to create PDF documents are supported for the following entities: Account, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, Quotes, Orders and Invoices. Generated PDF documents can be stored as notes attachment in Dynamics or in Microsoft SharePoint.

Before starting to generate PDF documents, the feature should be enabled and word document templates should be uploaded for the entities you want to create PDF files for. Please follow the steps below to enable the feature:

  1. Navigate to Sales Hub
  2. At the bottom of the site map select Change area and then select App Settings
  3. Under General Settings please select Overview
  4. Under Overview select Productivity tools and then Manage under Convert to PDF

  1. To enable or disable PDF generation, on the Convert to PDF page, set the entity toggle to Enabled or Disabled

Once the PDF feature is enabled, please go to any of the enabled entities and you’ll be able to see two new buttons Create PDF and Email as PDF. Please see the below example where the PDF feature is enabled on the Sales Order entity.

Once the PDF is generated by clicking Create PDF, it will be saved as a notes attachment with the order or in SharePoint.
